I am Lora Hood, BSN, RN, CLNC, founder of Counsel's Nurse Consultant LLC and a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant with more than 12 years of diverse clinical nursing experience.

What has always driven me in nursing is the desire to look beyond a patient's presenting problem and understand the deeper clinical picture. When something does not fully add up, I am naturally drawn to finding the missing pieces by identifying what may have been overlooked. I use critical thinking to clarify the medical story and evaluate whether the care provided aligned with standards of care and evidence-based practice. That same investigative and analytical mindset is what led me to legal nurse consulting.

My clinical background spans emergency medicine, intensive care, inpatient psychiatric care, cardiac care, and skilled nursing, with experience across rural, inner-city, and Veterans Affairs healthcare systems. That range has given me valuable insight into complex patient populations, documentation practices, regulatory considerations, interdisciplinary care, and the realities of healthcare delivery in a wide variety of settings.

Outside of my professional work, I value family time, travel, holidays, summertime, and celebrating the people I love. Those parts of my life keep me grounded, grateful, and connected to what matters most - and they continue to shape the compassion and perspective I bring to my work.
